Healthy Chocolate Frosting recipe made with Avocado makes this an easy 6-ingredient fudgy, dairy-free, vegan, low in sugar, creamy chocolate frosting. A better, healthier alternative to normal frostings.
We are going in a revolutionary direction today. Healthy Chocolate Frosting.
Just hear me out guys.
This week I needed a healthy, creamy and delicious chocolate frosting to go on top of some extremely delicious cookies. (Those babies are coming soon.)
I felt daring and wanted to try making frosting that was not only dairy-free, but also healthy and lower in sugar, like my favorite low-sugar vanilla buttercream frosting.
I just needed this frosting to be in chocolate form. Double chocolate form.
What is creamy, generally flavorless, 100% natural, and packed with all sorts of healthy nutrients, including Vitamin K and the goodness of heart healthy fats?
Avocados.
I survive on avocados guys. I’ve seen around people who use avocados as a replacement for butter and decided to jump on this bandwagon and give it a try.
Dude. Delicious. And works like a dream.
Avocados have a purpose other than guacamole? Sounds like blasphemy initially, I know, but in all its creamy goodness, turns out it has another perfect use.
Take its versatility and BAM, you have healthy chocolate frosting.
I personally played around with this recipe a few times and found my favorite combination with these ingredients.
Creamy chocolate frosting with a hint of sweetness, bursting with deep dark chocolate flavor.
It’s a trick I’ve found from my flourless double chocolate chip cookies: Add just a hint of cinnamon to enhance the chocolate flavor tenfold.
Another trick: If you want a thicker, more condense frosting, add a tablespoon of potato starch to thicken.
This recipe pipes on very well when chilled; it will, however, lose its shape just a tad once it warms up.
You can use this frosting on cupcakes, cake, brownies or anything your heart desires. Oh man, this would be ahhmazinggg on my flourless chocolate cake!
** Slowly begins dreaming of all these amazing chocolate combinations. **
Back on track, this healthy chocolate frosting will be just perfect for any of the above baked goods, making them a little healthier and lower in sugar. That is a win-win.

I LOVE chocolate avocado frosting!! I just recently made some and used it on a cake recipe. I’ll have to give this recipe a try with the addition of potato starch!

I’m definitely falling in love with avocado frosting now! 😉 I liked the potato starch because it gave the frosting more ‘structure’ and was easier for pipping onto cookies.
